REASONS TO VOTE FOR ORTIZ

I’m speaking solely for myself as a citizen and not as a member of the Ketchikan Borough Assembly.

I’m supporting Rep. Dan Ortiz to continue to be the southern Southeast Representative to the Alaska Legislature. My reasons for doing so are as follows:

• Dan Ortiz always listens.

• Dan Ortiz follows through and follows up.

• Dan Ortiz takes constituents’ concerns seriously and does everything he can to route questions to the correct people.

• Dan Ortiz calls back when clarification is needed, and reports back with the results he has researched.

Politics is a team sport. Things only get done with cooperation and the support of other legislators. Ideologic purity has resulted in gridlock, not progress to the detriment of Alaskans. Our representative must be approachable to progress can be made for legislation beneficial to Southern Southeast as well as the rest of Alaska.

Dan is that person. He is able to work with members of both parties as exemplified by working with a mixed coalition in the majority. Ideologic purity has resulted in gridlock, not progress to the detriment of Alaskans.

Dan has gained the experience and knowledge to be the most effective representative we can have in Juneau.

I urge you to vote for Dan Ortiz on Nov. 8.
